Agglutination inhibition assay is a very highly sensitive assay for smaller quantities of antigen. This assay is used in the pregnancy kits available in the market and are used for testing pregnancy at home. The kit contains LATEX particles coated with antibody to Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). The urine of a pregnant women contains HCG. During the test, urine sample is exposed to the latex strip, where HCG bind to the HCG antibody dye complex. Which upon binding produces coloured complex and provides the positive result. In this simple assay, there would be no agglutination or clumping.
